ASPIRIN

Class
 
  • Platelet inhibitor.
  • Anti-inflammatory.
Action
 
  • Inhibit prostaglandin and blocks platelet aggregation.
  • It is also mild analgesic and anti-inflamatory.
Indications
 
  • Adult patients with chest pain when acute coronary syndrome is suspected.
Contraindications
 
  • Hypersensitivity.
  • Active GI bleeding.
  • If the patient has taken loading dose (325mg) in the last 24 hours.
Precaution
  • Suspected GI bleeding and upset stomach.
Side effects
  • Heartburn.
  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
Administration
Rout: Oral Onset: 5-30 minutes Peak effect: 1-2 hours Duration: 4-6 hours
Adult Dose:
  • 81 - 325 mg chewed.
Pediatric Dose:
  • Not indicated
