  • Antihistamine H1 blocker. (first generation)
Action
 
  • Blocks histamine release, thereby reducing bronchoconstriction and vasodilatation.
Indications
 
  • Anaphylaxis.
  • Allergic reaction.
  • Dystonic reaction.
Contraindications
 
  • Hypersensitivity
Precaution
  • Should be used with caution in pregnancy, history of asthma, experiencing severe intoxication.
Side effects
  • Hypotension.
  • Headache.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Tachycardia.
  • Blurred vision.
Administration
Rout: IV Onset: 10-15 minutes Peak effect: 1 hour Duration: 6-8 hours
Adult Dose:
  • 25 - 50 mg slow IV/IO push or IM.
Pediatric Dose:
  • 1.0 mg/kg slow IVP/IO.
