FLUMAZENIL
Class
	Benzodiazepine receptor antagonist.
Action
	Antagonizes the actions of benzodiazepines on the central nervous system.
Indications
	Reversal of benzodiazepine sedation.
Contraindications
	Hypersensitivity to Flumazenil or to benzodiazepines. Cyclic antidepressant overdose. Known seizure disorder
Precaution
	Toxic effects of mixed drug overdose (especially cyclic antidepressants) may emerge with the reversal of the benzodiazepine effects.
Side effects
	Nausea and vomiting, dizziness, agitation. Cardiac dysrhythmias. Injection-site pain, cutaneous vasodilation. Abnormal vision. Seizures.
Administration
Rout: IV/IO	Onset: 1-2 minutes	Peak effect: 6-10 minutes	Duration: 20-50 minutes
Adult Dose:
	0.2 mg IV/IO push over 30 seconds. An additional dose of 0.3 mg IV/IO may be given in 30 seconds. A third dose of 0.5 mg at one-minute intervals. Maximum dose of 3 mg.
Pediatric Dose:
	Infant to children (1 -17 years old) Intitial dose: 0.01mg/kg IV/IO/given over 15 seconds, Repeat dose: 0.01mg/kg IV/IO given over 15 seconds, may repeat 0.01mg/kg after 45 seconds. Maximum total accumulation dose: 0.05mg/kg
