SALBUTAMOL
Class
	Sympathetic Agonist.
Action
	Synthetic sympathomimetics that causes bronchodilitation with very little cardiac effects.
Indications
	Bronchial asthma. Bronchospasm in emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary edema and congestive heart failure.
Contraindications
	Hypersensitivity. Uncontrolled cardiac dysrhythmias.
Precaution
	Caution should be exercised in patients with a cardiac history.
Side effects
	Headache. Tachycardia. Palpitations. Nervousness. PVC's. Nausea / Vomiting.
Administration
Rout: Nebs	Onset: 5-15 minutes	Peak effect: 1-1.5 hours	Duration: 3-6 hours
Adult Dose:
	2.5 - 5mg in 3 ml saline by nebulized aerosol connected to 6 - 10 l/m of oxygen. May be repeated once per standing orders.
Pediatric Dose:
	<15kg or <5years: 2.5mg in 3ml saline by nebulized aerosol. >15kg or >5 years: 2.5-5mg in 3ml saline by nebulized aerosol. Connect to 6 - 8 l/m oxygen and may be repeated once per standing orders.
